Welcome to our new Super Intensive Course for B2 First course. This is a new course focused on tips and strategies in order to reach the B2First level and obtain the Certification. 

Customized Training Services are very well known for our academic rigurosity and the support and customized feedback we provide to our students.

This course has in total thirty two two-hour syncrhonic sessions plus differentiated asynchronic sessions with an exam practice at the end of each session and a mock exam every six. The last module is completely devoted to exam practice and mock exams, all of which will have their own customized feedback.

 Qué significa esta calificación? Este certificado muestra que ya dominas los fundamentos de Inglés a nivel pre-intermedio y que has adquirido habilidades del idioma para el uso diario. Constituye un acercamiento más hacia el B2 First que es el examen de nivel intermedio, certificación a la que podrías acceder con mayor posibilidades de éxito despues de este nivel B1.

Al obtener el B1 Preliminary, te familiarizas con el tipo de preguntas que vienen en los niveles B2 First y C1 Advanced y adquieres también las destrezas para dar exámenes internacionales según el Marco Europeo Común. 

What does this qualification mean? It means that you have mastered the foundations of English at a pre-intermediate level and has already acquired the language skills for everyday use. It certainly helps you approach the B2First Intermediate and provide you with more possibilities of success since you become familiar with the tasks and the tips of these exams.

Course: Teaching English to Young Learners

Some people believe that it is easy to teach children because they only want to play, it is true that they love to play but they also love to learn and teaching English to them is a very good combination of fun and knowledge. This is a methodology course for teachers who prepare candidates for Cambridge Young Learners examinations. Classes are hands-on and resources and tips are provided. 

Summary of 2021

 Below there is a summary of the CTS activities  (second part) we had in 2021. It was quite a year!!! Lots of challenges and decisions, lots of love, caring and sharing. It ended with hope for a wonderful 2022. 

Getting REady for FCE

Cambridge has changed the name of the B2 Upper Intermediate level Certificate they issue after sitting for the exam. It used to be called FCE (First Certificate in English), Cambridge English First and now B2 First; however, it has been FCE for so long that the name stuck.

What is important is what you can do once you reach this level of proficiency in English and it is a lot, read, write, listen and understand, speak, you can go around in any English speaking environment with confidence. This is why we, in Customized Training Services, the training company I work for, were asked to design a course to help teachers prepare for this examination. 

Since due to Covid 19, there are no openings for this exam in Peru, we thought of preparing modules of the different papers while waiting for exam dates. This is the first and it is on one of the hardest papers: Use of English. But we also wanted to support our teachers who already have the Certificate or are not interested in it but do want to improve their communicative abilities and so we are covering certain aspects that not only help with this exam paper but also support their communicative skills. 

B2 level of proficiency

 In this competitive world, we need to demonstrate qualities that make us better than other candidates whether we want to live, study or work in an English speaking environment or improve our academic skills. Knowing a foreign language, particularly English is, besides being computer literate, a very important asset.

To demonstrate the ability to understand the main ideas of complex texts, to interact fluently with native speakers and produce clear texts on a wide range of subjects we need to get at least a B2 level of proficiency.

In this chart we can see how useful it is to achieve this Independent level =Upper Intermediate (B2First) for the above reasons and also if you are interested in pursuing a good IELTS score.

Why is it important to get a B2 level and demonstrate it by obtaining the Cambridge English First Certificate?

Because achieving this level allows you to interact fluently with native speakers, explaining your point of view on topical issues,  understand the main ideas of different kinds of complex texts and produce detailed texts on a wide range of subjects. 

Besides, it is a good extra point if you are applying for a job not only in teaching but in any field of specialization. 

This course places special emphasis on issues such as Idioms and Collocations, Phrasal Verbs and Sentence Transformation. 

Use of English Review Courses

If you need to write, speak to people, work in English, learn another language, communicate ideas, prepare reports, manage people, study and especially teach English then learning about how English is put together and how you can put it together more effectively is an invaluable skill. Grammar describes how a language works and, since you are teaching that language, you should be able to describe what you are teaching. Grammar is a massive subject but as an English teacher you should be familiar with the basics For learning the Basics at the different CEFR levels, in CTS we have prepared these courses where we are presenting the grammatical contents suggested for the levels through different input material and we provide personalized feedback for the evaluations so participants will know what went wrong and why.

 In Customized Training Services we believe teachers of English need to be knowledgeable in both knowing the language we teach as well as learning how to teach it whether it is face-to-face or online.

The aim of these review courses is to refresh some Use of English issues at different levels addressing each participant´s strengths and weaknesses in personalized tutoring sessions with personalized feedback using web tools for that purpose.

CTS Academic event

On May 25, Customized Training Services will offer its XIX Academic event. The theme of this year is Evaluation so it is natural to develop the two sessions on providing feedback as part of Formative Assessment. 

The first session will be about Feedback for Writing and the second about Feedback for Speaking. We have the pleasure to count on the expertise of Ms Ellen Burry, English Language Fellow (RELO Andes)  and Ms Liliana Burga, a teacher with many years of experience. 

As always, we keep the number of attendees short because our workshops are hands-on and we really want our CTS family to take full advantage of these events so hurry and register as soon as possible. 

Pre-FCE Online Course

Official international Certificates are a very useful tool to study abroad or to demonstrate a specific Language level when applying for a job. In the job field some of the most commonly required Certificates are the ones issued by Cambridge Assessment English, particularly B2: First (previously known as FCE).

Over five million people in the world sit for Cambridge exams which measure basic skills when using a language: reading, listening, speaking and writing. First thing to do before becoming familiar with the exam structure is to reach the required level of proficiency in the language. That is why we have designed this Pre-FCE course where we will present and practice some of the most important language structures that are being assessed in the B2: First exam. Therefore, taking this course will allow participants to kill two birds with one stone: improve their Grammar proficiency and advance in their exam preparation. We can help you, contact us.

Tools for Formative Assessment

This session will have two parts: the First Part will be about strategies and tools for formative assessment and the second will help participants with the preparation of Rubrics. In both cases we will be taken into account the recent guidelines given by MINEDU.
 

What is the Pre- FCE course about?

This is an online course that aims at supporting people who have an Intermediate level of English and are interested in refreshing their knowledge and also for those who want to start their Cambridge First exam preparation. The course develops the main grammatical structures an Intermediate student should master as well as the vocabulary based on the topics that Cambridge First exam assesses.

Being a customized course, participants will sit for a diagnostic test at the beginning of the course and will receive weekly material and  online tutoring to help them meet their needs. At the end of the course, an achievement test will be administered to measure progress.

Communication Skills for Cambridge Exams

Some other institutions and even some of our former students run courses using the same name and characteristics of ours and even the material we provided them with.
